Massage therapy consists of “hands-on” soft tissue manipulation. It works directly on the muscular, nervous and circulatory system to rehabilitate and treat physical injuries. We are trained in a wide variety of techniques to obtain varying results. Following an assessment, your therapist will utilize the appropriate techniques for treatment.
There are many benefits of Massage Therapy.
Massage has an effect on local blood flow by clearing metabolic waste and by-products of tissue damage and inflammation, as well as delivering oxygen to tissue cells.
Massage can reduce muscle tension; decrease spasms and increase flexibility and pain-free movement.
Massage can aid with respiratory difficulties such as asthma and emphysema by loosening mucous and increasing chest expansion.
Massage is helpful in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.
Massage can reduce neurological symptoms such as numbness and tingling; and increases nerve supply to areas that are lacking ie sciatica pain.
Massage benefits athletes by decreasing recovery time and preventing further injuries.

Rebecca graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2005 and has been an active part of the Back To Health team since 2006. Some of the treatment modalities that she applies in her practice are; Ligamentous Articular Strain Technique, Myofascial Release, Joint Mobilizations, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Pre Natal Massage and General Soft Tissue Mobilizations.

Rebecca’s approach to treatment is not about “fixing the problem” but rather, being a facilitator of positive change. With the aim of improving overall functionality in each patient’s body by incorporating specific manual techniques and customized self-care strategies.

When not at the clinic, Rebecca can be found hanging around the local coffee shops, or walking around the neighborhood usually sipping on something from said coffee shops. Sometimes in tandem with reading a delightful book or just having a laugh in good company (usually it’s the latter).

To book an appointment with Rebecca you can either email her directly at rhanemaayer.rmt@gmail.com or contact Back to Health Massage and Manual Lymph Drainage Clinic at 604-273-2996.
